The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) and the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) have undertaken a joint review of the Drilling and Production Guidelines (the Guidelines). The Guidelines were effective March 31st, 2011.

The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) and Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) jointly revised the Incident Reporting and Investigation Guidelines (previously released June 2009 and November 2012).  With the addition of Part III.1 to both the federal and provincial Accord Acts in December 2014, the introduction of the transitional regulations in January 2015 and feedback from stakeholders on the current version, the decision was made to update this Guideline.

The Canada Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board will be delaying its annual Call for Bids in order to complete a more comprehensive geoscientific assessment of the 2017 Call for Bids Forecast Area. The geoscientific assessment of the 2017 Call for Bids Forecast Area will be completed in the next couple of months. CNSOPB anticipates the Call for Bids will be issued in the Summer of 2017. The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) and the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) jointly revised the Compensation Guidelines Respecting Damages Relating to Offshore Petroleum Activity (previously released in September 1991 and March 2002).  With the February 2016 amendments to the Accord Acts and the addition of the new Financial Requirements Regulations to both the federal and provincial Accord Acts, a decision to update the Compensation Guidelines was made.

June 8, 2017 On April 20th, 2017, the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (the Board) reviewed and approved an application from BP Canada Energy Group ULC,  Interest Representative for Exploration Licences (ELs) 2431, 2432, 2433, and 2434, to enter into a consolidation agreement to consolidate these four ELs. CANADA-NOVA SCOTIA OFFSHORE PETROLEUM BOARD ISSUES CALL FOR BIDS (Halifax, Nova Scotia) The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) has issued its Call for Bids NS17-1 for Exploration Licences consisting of three parcels. Bids must be received by December 14, 2017 before 4:00 p.m. Atlantic Time. Any successful bidder(s) will be awarded Exploration Licences subject to federal and provincial Ministerial approval.
