OFFSHORE BOARD ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF CALL FOR BIDS NS16-1
(Halifax, NS) The Canada - Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board today announced the results of Call for Bids NS16-1. No successful bids were received. The parcels are no longer up for bid and remain as Crown land.
Parcels 1, 2, and 3 were located in shallow water on the Scotian Shelf, south of Sable Island and are adjacent to current natural gas production from the Sable Offshore Energy Project. Parcels 4, 5 and 6 were located south of Parcels 1, 2 and 3 on the outer shelf and slope of the central Scotian margin. The closest land points other than Sable Island are Goldboro and Canso.
Call for Bids NS16-1 was issued on May 2nd, 2016. At that time, interested parties were invited to bid on the parcels and the public was invited to submit written comments to the Board. Comments received have been posted on the Call for Bids website at www.callforbids.ca. Bidding closed on October 27th, 2016.
The next Call for Bids (NS17-1) will be issued in spring 2017. The CNSOPB will accept nominations for lands to be included in this Call until December 1st, 2016. In addition, the CNSOPB publishes a three year rolling forecast for lands to be included in future Calls for Bids. This can be found at https://www.cnsopb.ns.ca/our-role/resource-management.
