(Halifax, NS) The Canada - Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB) today announced the results of Call for Bids NS17-1. No bids were received. The parcels are no longer up for bid and remain as Crown land.
Call for Bids NS17-1 included three parcels located east of Cape Breton Island in a geological region known as the Sydney Basin, in water depths between 50–450m. Call for Bids NS17-1 was issued on July 24, 2017. At that time, interested parties were invited to bid on parcels, and the public was invited to submit written comments to CNSOPB. CNSOPB also held information and engagement sessions in areas around Cape Breton. Written comments received and an engagement summary report can be found at www.callforbids.ca. Bidding closed on December 14, 2017.
The next Call for Bids (NS18-1) will be issued in spring 2018. In addition, the CNSOPB publishes a three-year rolling forecast for lands to be included in future Calls for Bids. This can be found in our Call-for-Bids Forecast Areas section. This forecast is typically updated in January or February of each year.
